About Our Mission

Fashion4Compassion was launched in 2010 by Jana Rankin as a non-profit dedicated to preserving and providing hope for children and victims of human trafficking. Through its programs and partners both domestic and international, F4C provides shelter, medical care, psychological counseling, education and reintegration. F4C takes a proactive stance by educating our youth on the dangers and tactics used by traffickers.

Funds are generated through charitable contributions, awareness drives and through direct donations of goods from fashion designers, high-end stores, celebrities and individuals. F4C's Freedom Chains are bracelets are hand crafted by survivors and by volunteers to help increase awareness of this atrocity and aid in the survivors' reintegration into society.

The Beginning

Jana founded Fashion4Compassion after receiving two gifts, a book and a pair of shoes. The book was by Somaly Mam, a victim at age 12 of human trafficking. The shoes were her mother's from many years ago. That night, she read Somaly's book and it broke her heart. She wanted to help but the problem seemed enormous. Taking the easy road, she put the book down and went to bed. The next day, she opened the box of shoes. Trying them on, she realized that the value of a trafficked child was approximately the same as the value of the shoes her mother gave her. It was at that point that her eyes opened to the sadness and her passion for change began.
